Actor Song Geon-hee has officially begun his mandatory military service. On December 1, he shared a heartfelt message through his agency JG Entertainment's social media, acknowledging that the sudden announcement may have surprised fans.
A Quiet, Honest Goodbye
Song reflected on the timing of his enlistment, saying he felt he should have served earlier but is now entering the military as he approaches his 30s. Preparing to leave brought "many thoughts rushing by," he admitted.
He expressed deep gratitude to his fans, "Geonhee-Sang," promising to keep the youthful image he showed in his early 20s, just as he once vowed. He thanked them for standing by him for the past nine years, saying their support has always been his strength.
Looking Ahead to His Return
Song shared that he wasn't sure how to fully express his feelings, but wanted fans to know he is sincerely thankful. "I'm pressing the rest of my unspoken feelings right here," he wrote, asking fans to stay healthy until he returns. He promised to come back in good condition after his service.
Song Geon-hee entered the Army on December 1 and will undergo five weeks of basic training at a recruit training center. His discharge is scheduled for May 2027.
