Entertainer Jo Se-ho has voluntarily stepped away from his variety programs.
A2Z Entertainment announced on December 9 that Jo Se-ho will exit tvN's You Quiz on the Block and KBS-2TV's 2 Days & 1 Night. The decision follows rising controversy after rumors surfaced linking him to an organized crime figure.
A company representative stated they fully understand the discomfort viewers may feel. They added that Jo did not want the production teams to shoulder additional burden due to public scrutiny directed at him, leading to a mutual decision for his departure.
Firm Stance to Clear His Name
Jo Se-ho intends to return only after fully dispelling all allegations. "He promises to clear every suspicion raised against him and come back in a healthy, renewed state," the agency said.
Legal action has also been announced. The agency emphasized that they will respond swiftly and decisively to restore his damaged reputation, noting, "Jo Se-ho has no connection to Mr. Choi's business, and claims of receiving money or participating in illegal promotions are unequivocally false."
Background of the Controversy
A recent SNS post accused Jo Se-ho of ties to a man allegedly operating an illegal gambling site, sharing photos and claims that quickly spread online. Jo's side acknowledged that the two individuals knew each other but firmly denied receiving luxury gifts or any involvement in unlawful activities.
A2Z Entertainment expressed gratitude for the public's concern and criticism, adding that Jo Se-ho sees this as an opportunity for self-reflection and hopes to return with genuine, healthy laughter in the future.
