Park Chan-wook, director Maggie Kang, and actor Lee Byung-hun were celebrated at the inaugural awards ceremony hosted by Korean American creatives in Hollywood.
On December 8 (KST), the Korean American Leaders in Hollywood (KALH) held its first-ever KALH Honors event in Los Angeles. The organization selected Park, Kang, and Lee as its inaugural honorees, with founder Kimber Lim noting that their works "showcase the diversity of Korean storytelling."
Visionary Voices in Global Cinema
Park Chan-wook received the Visionary Director Award for his film I Have No Choice. KALH praised him for "fearless storytelling and a genre-transcending vision that reshaped the global filmmaking landscape."
Director Maggie Kang was honored with the Trailblazer Award for the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters. According to KALH, the project "inspires new generations with its forward-looking imagination."
Lee Byung-hun's Global Impact
Lee Byung-hun won Best Actor, with the committee recognizing "his bold choices, unforgettable performances, and cross-border influence," adding that they were "proud to celebrate his contributions."
Supporting Korean Creators in Hollywood
Founded in 2020, KALH brings together leaders across film, TV, music, and the wider Hollywood entertainment industry to support the global advancement of Korean and Korean American creators.
All three honorees are also nominees for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, with results to be announced on January 11 next year.
