Police have conducted a search and seizure involving singer Psy, who is under investigation for alleged violations of Korea's Medical Service Act.
According to the Seoul Seodaemun Police, officers executed a search on December 4 at Psy's agency office and his vehicle, examining his mobile phone and related materials.
A representative from P NATION told Dispatch on the 11th that they "fully cooperated with the authorities' request." Psy is being investigated for the unlawful proxy receipt of prescription medication.
The singer had been diagnosed with chronic sleep disorder and was prescribed sleeping medication. From 2022 until recently, a third party allegedly collected psychotropic prescription drugs on his behalf from a university hospital in Seoul. There is no evidence to support the existence of a legitimate proxy prescription.
In August, Psy acknowledged the misconduct, stating, "Having someone else receive prescription-only sleeping medication was clearly a mistake and negligence on my part. I apologize for causing concern."
The agency added, "As the investigation is ongoing, we cannot provide detailed comments at this time, but we will continue to follow legal procedures and take all necessary measures."
