Onew of SHINee has clarified speculation surrounding his alleged connection to "Injection Aunt" A, who is accused of performing illegal medical procedures on comedian Park Narae.
His agency, Griffin Entertainment, released an official statement on the 11th, explaining that they wanted to "clearly address the factual relationship between Onew and A."
They first detailed how the two met. According to the agency, Onew visited a clinic in Sinsa-dong in April 2022 after receiving a recommendation from an acquaintance. A was working at that clinic at the time. "Onew's visit was solely for skin treatments," a representative said, adding that he had "no way of knowing about any allegations regarding A's medical license."
Regarding the signed CD that fueled rumors of involvement in illegal procedures, the agency explained that it "was simply a gesture of appreciation for the treatment he received."
The agency expressed regret over the misinformation spreading online. "We deeply lament that unfounded claims continue to be amplified. We hope no further speculation arises."
Earlier, Dispatch revealed evidence indicating that Park Narae had received illegal medical services from A, who, according to the Korean Medical Association, does not possess a valid medical license in Korea. Meanwhile, Gangnam Police have received a formal complaint against both Park Narae and "Injection Aunt," who are under investigation for suspected violations of the Narcotics Control Act.
