Police have decided not to forward embezzlement charges against singer Sung Si-kyung's former manager after the artist expressed his intention not to pursue punishment.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul recently issued a non-indictment decision regarding A, a former manager of Sung Si-kyung, who had been reported on charges including occupational embezzlement and violations under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
The decision was reportedly influenced by Sung Si-kyung's stance against seeking legal punishment. His agency, SK Jaewon, released a statement saying, "We hope the matter can be resolved amicably."
The agency added that it plans to focus on recovering damages, explaining, "We will cooperate so that apologies and compensation can be carried out in ways acceptable to all parties involved."
It also urged restraint regarding speculation, stating, "We respectfully ask that there be no unfounded assumptions or exaggerated interpretations related to this issue."
Sung Si-kyung previously spoke about the distress caused by the situation, saying that the past few months had been "a series of extremely difficult and painful times." The incident was cited as the reason he delayed announcing his year-end concert schedule, as he was deeply shaken by the breach of trust during professional duties.
The former manager had worked with Sung Si-kying for nearly 20 years, handling practical responsibilities across concerts, broadcasts, advertisements, events, and promotions, before leaving the company following the incident.
Meanwhile, Sung Si-kyung is set to hold his year-end concert series from December 25 to 28 at KSPO Dome in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
