BIGBANG's Daesung is proving his "limit-breaking" appeal on Korea's trot charts with his latest release.
Daesung dropped his new single "Exceeding the Limit" on December 10. The title track climbed to No. 1 on Bugs' Adult Contemporary (Trot) Chart as of December 12, while also landing in the Top 5 on Melon and Genie's equivalent charts alongside leading trot artists such as Lim Young-woong, Jang Yoon-jeong, and Young Tak.
"Exceeding the Limit" is an upbeat trot track driven by a lively sound. Daesung's signature energy, expressive delivery, and witty vocals elevate the song's overall impact.
The title track was produced by G-DRAGON and KUSH, marking a high-profile collaboration often dubbed a "dream team." TWICE's Sana appears in the music video, adding extra buzz to the release.
This marks Daesung's first trot comeback in about 16 years. He previously showcased his presence as an original "trot idol" with hits like "Look at Me, Gwisoon" in 2008 and "Big Hit!" in 2009.
The single includes three tracks in total. B-side "A Single Rose" is an emotional love song built on a synth-rock sound, while "Maybe Being Alone Suits Me" is an R&B track that captures a calm, restrained breakup narrative.
Meanwhile, Daesung will hold encore concerts for his Asia tour "D's WAVE" from January 2 to 4 at the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium in Seoul.
