A refreshingly down-to-earth superhero series is set to close out the year. Lee Junho, Kim Hyang-gi, and Kim Byung-chul transform into unconventional heroes whose powers grow only as much as they spend cash or consume food—turning everyday sacrifice into super strength.
In the Netflix original series Cashero, the trio plays a public servant, a lawyer, and a convenience store cashier who unite solely out of a sense of justice. They break housing savings accounts, give up liver health and dieting goals, and trade personal stability to protect the world—earning the title of painfully relatable, "salty" heroes.
Opposing them are villains portrayed by Lee Chae‑min and Kang Hanna, who wield overwhelming capital to suppress ordinary heroes, pushing tension to its peak.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Cashero follows Kang Sang-woong, played by Lee Junho. A community center civil servant who unexpectedly inherits superpowers from his father, Sang-woong faces a brutal dilemma: every use of his ability directly drains his cash. Despite this, he chooses to fight on.
Lee Junho shared that the emotional weight of the early episodes drew him in, explaining that Sang-woong's conflict—saving money for marriage while being forced to spend it to save others—felt deeply compelling. He focused on portraying the character's inner transformation, from rejecting his power to eventually realizing that pursuing justice over money aligns with his true nature.
Sang-woong teams up with other powered individuals, including a lawyer who can pass through walls the more he drinks, played by Kim Byung‑chul, and Bang Eun-mi, portrayed by Kim Hyang‑gi, whose telekinetic strength increases in proportion to the calories she consumes—especially bread. Kim Hyang-gi highlighted the challenge of balancing action scenes with eating, while expressing a desire to capture the frustration of a teenage girl forced to abandon dieting for the sake of her powers.

The central clash pits "Team Sang-woong" against the mysterious organization Beominhoe, led by rival heirs Jonathan and Joanna. Lee Chae-min embraced his first villain role by focusing on the brutality and thrill of the hunt, while Kang Hanna described her character as an unpredictable chaebol heiress who both restrains and toys with superpowered individuals.
Despite the on-screen hostility, the cast emphasized their strong off-screen chemistry. Lee Junho praised Lee Chae-min's dedication, noting that his preparation before filming made their scenes feel natural and immersive.
Cashero premieres on December 26, promising a binge-worthy mix of fantasy action, humor, and everyday realism—an eight-episode ride designed to be watched in one sitting.
