Park Shin-hye is taking on a fin-de-siècle period drama with tvN's new weekend series Undercover Miss Hong.

Set in the 1990s securities industry, the drama is an office comedy that follows Park Shin-hye's character Hong Geum-bo, a brilliant elite financial regulator. After detecting suspicious fund flows, she goes undercover as a 20-year-old entry-level employee at a securities firm to investigate from the inside.

This marks Park Shin-hye's first attempt at a period drama. She explained that the premise immediately caught her interest, noting that the story of a woman going undercover in an era when female success was far from easy felt both fresh and compelling.

She described Hong Geum-bo as a fierce survivor who has endured intense competition, adding that the character confidently demonstrates her abilities even within a patriarchal social climate.

Another key highlight lies in the relationships between characters. Park pointed to the chemistry among the Financial Supervisory Service team, Hanmin Securities' crisis management unit, and the four residents of Dorm Room 301 as a major source of fun viewers won't want to miss.

She also teased anticipation around whether Hong Geum-bo can successfully complete her nerve-racking undercover mission and what fate awaits Hanmin Securities by the end of the story.

Undercover Miss Hong premieres on January 17 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN.
