AKMU has officially ended its 12-year partnership with YG Entertainment, closing a defining chapter in the duo's career.
On December 31, Lee Chan-hyuk shared a message on social media saying, "Goodbye, YG (2013–2025). I'm deeply grateful for everything. Thank you for raising us," alongside a banner reading, "Thank you for the long days and long nights." Lee Su-hyun also expressed her appreciation, thanking YG staff for their support over the past 12 years and calling YG Family a source of pride and happiness she would always remember as a "home in her heart."
YG Entertainment had previously announced in November that AKMU's contract would conclude, with producer Yang Hyun-suk encouraging the duo to explore new environments and musical paths.
AKMU rose to prominence after winning K-pop Star 2 in 2013 and went on to release a string of beloved hits, including "How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love," "Dinosaur," and "Last Goodbye," cementing their place as one of Korea's most distinctive and enduring acts.
