Singer Bumkey is stepping into a new public role, contributing to national efforts on drug addiction prevention.
On January 2, Brand New Music announced that Bumkey has been appointed as a civilian member of the Drug Countermeasures Council under the Office for Government Policy Coordination. He will serve as a policy advisor on drug-related responses for the next two years.
Bumkey shared his commitment, saying that as a member of the private sector, he will faithfully convey voices from the field and do his utmost to contribute to policy improvements and public safety.
He has previously engaged in social initiatives, including establishing a scholarship foundation for underprivileged youth. Through this appointment, Bumkey plans to participate in discussions on drug-related issues from the perspective of a cultural artist.
Brand New Music commented that the appointment is especially meaningful, noting that Bumkey is expected to play a constructive role in drug eradication and rehabilitation policies, and asked for continued interest and support.
Meanwhile, Bumkey recently released a remake of "I'm Missing You," originally sung by the late Wheesung.
