Actor Lee Dong-hwi has been injured during rehearsals for his upcoming stage play.
On January 3, Lee shared the news on social media, announcing that he would be unable to participate in the play The Turing Machine. He explained, "An injury occurred during rehearsals, making it difficult for me to take the stage," and asked for understanding.
Fortunately, the injury is not serious. Lee reassured fans, saying, "It's not severe enough to affect daily life, so please don't worry."
He also encouraged continued interest in the production. "It's a work that all the staff and actors poured their hearts into," he said. "I hope you'll show it lots of support. I'll focus on my recovery."
Lee Dong-hwi was originally cast in The Turing Machine, a play that closely portrays the life of British mathematical genius Alan Turing. The production is set for a revival following its premiere in early 2023.
His first performance had been scheduled for January 9 at 7:30 p.m., but due to the unexpected injury, the casting has been adjusted. Actors Lee Seung-joo and Lee Sang-yoon will take over the role according to the schedule.
The production company stated, "Due to an injury sustained during rehearsals, Lee Dong-hwi is currently unable to perform on stage for the time being," officially announcing the casting change.
The Turing Machine will run from January 8 through March 1 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts S Theater in Seoul.
