Im Jae-bum is unveiling his final new song ahead of retirement.
On January 6 at 6 p.m. KST, Im Jae-bum releases the digital single Life Is a Drama, marking the last new track he will present to the public.
"Life Is a Drama" compares life to a single unfolding story, capturing the countless moments of falling and rising again, and the journey that continues to be written. The lyrics were penned by renowned lyricist Kim Eana, featuring lines such as "Don't speak of the end" and "Behind the collapsing wall, I see a new path." Im Jae-bum's profound vocals add a heavy, resonant emotional depth.
Im Jae-bum is currently holding his 40th debut anniversary nationwide tour, I Am Im Jae-bum, which runs through May. He completed concerts in Daegu and Incheon at the end of last year and is set to perform in Seoul at KSPO Dome on January 17–18.
Following the tour, Im Jae-bum will conclude his 40-year musical journey. He shared that the decision came after long contemplation, saying that choosing the right moment to step away on his own terms felt like his final act of pride and gratitude. He added that he plans to give everything he has left—his strength and heart—to the remaining anniversary stages and to bring his career to a quiet but sincere close in his own way.
Thanking his fans, Im Jae-bum said they were the beginning of his music and the reason he was able to endure. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who loved his songs and walked alongside him throughout his life.
Im Jae-bum debuted in 1986 as the vocalist of rock band Sinawe's first album and went on to leave an indelible mark on Korean popular music with iconic songs including "For You," "Emergency," "Confession," "After This Night Passes," and "A Wound Deeper Than Love."
