Actor Lee Hee-jun is set to debut as a feature film director.
On January 7, BH Entertainment announced that Rectangle, Triangle, written and directed by Lee Hee-jun, has confirmed its theatrical release for January 21.
The film follows a family gathering meant to be harmonious, where long-suppressed conflicts gradually surface and spiral into chaos. What begins as a well-intentioned reunion turns into an explosive confrontation of emotions and relationships.
Rectangle, Triangle was invited to the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival last year, earning praise for its sharp portrayal of everyday tensions escalating into dramatic turmoil.
This marks Lee Hee-jun's first feature-length directorial project. It is his second time directing overall, following the short film Byunghoon's Day released in 2018. He also penned the screenplay himself.
The film's completion is elevated by a cast of trusted performers, including Jin Sun-kyu, Oh Eui-sik, Oh Yong, Kwon So-hyun, Jung Jong-jun, Lee Jae-shin, Kim Hee-jung, Jung Yeon, and Lee Ha-rang.
The poster further heightens anticipation, using rough red typography to dramatize moments of intense familial collision. It visually encapsulates the film's core themes—family encounters, emotional clashes, fractured relationships, and explosive breakdowns—hinting at a darkly comic spectacle where humor and catastrophe coexist.
Rectangle, Triangle will be released in theaters on January 21.
