Actor Chae Jong-hyeop has stepped forward to support people living with epilepsy, making a meaningful donation to a related organization.
On January 7, the Korea Epilepsy Association announced that Chae donated ₩50 million to help cover medical expenses for underprivileged epilepsy patients and to support public awareness initiatives.
Chae has previously shared his own diagnosis of epilepsy. In 2023, he revealed that the condition was the reason for his military exemption, explaining that he received a Grade 5 wartime service classification due to epilepsy.
"I understand the pain of living with epilepsy," Chae said. "I hope that my small contribution can be of some help and encouragement to those who are struggling."
The association expressed gratitude for his support, stating, "His understanding of the difficulties faced by epilepsy patients and their families, and his willingness to help, brings real strength and comfort."
Chae Jong-hyeop made his debut in 2016 through a web drama and rose as a breakout actor with roles in Stove League, Nevertheless, Shooting Stars, and Castaway Diva.
He is set to return to television in MBC's upcoming Friday–Saturday drama Shining in Your Season, scheduled to premiere in the first half of this year.
