ILLIT has announced a zero-tolerance response after suffering a serious breach of personal flight information that escalated into direct threats against the members.
On January 9, BELIFT LAB released an official statement via Weverse, warning that illegal acquisition of ILLIT members' personal data and actions endangering their safety have gone far beyond acceptable limits.
According to the agency, ILLIT recently completed official overseas schedules and then proceeded with individual activities. During the return to Korea, a grave privacy violation occurred when members' arrival information was leaked in real time.
BELIFT LAB stated that it had detected the leak in advance and changed the departure airport and flight time immediately before departure to ensure the artists' safety. The updated flight details were shared only with the members themselves and a very small number of essential staff. Despite this, multiple individuals still appeared in front of the members, indicating that even the revised flight information had been exposed.
The agency explained that the stalkers went beyond attempting to initiate conversations, reportedly criticizing whether the members were wearing masks and demanding photos against the artists' wishes, creating a threatening situation.
BELIFT LAB emphasized that it has requested full cooperation from the relevant airline to verify access histories and log records related to the leaked information. The company added that it is continuously collecting evidence against those engaging in stalking behaviors that threaten the artists and made clear that it will pursue strict legal action without any settlements or leniency.
The agency concluded by reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that ILLIT can carry out activities in a safe environment, stressing that it will take every possible measure to protect the group from stalking and privacy violations, while asking fans for continued cooperation and reporting.
