KPop Demon Hunters has landed on the radar of the Producers Guild of America, earning a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the upcoming PGA Awards.
On January 9 (local time), the organizers of the 37th PGA Awards announced their list of nominees. KPop Demon Hunters, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, was named a finalist in the feature animation category.
The Netflix title will compete against major studio releases, including Zootopia 2, Elio, DreamWorks' The Bad Guys 2, and Japan's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle.
Industry watchers are now asking whether KPop Demon Hunters can carry this momentum into the Oscars race. The film is widely considered a strong contender for nominations at both the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
The PGA Awards are often viewed as a key barometer for predicting Academy Award outcomes. Adding to its awards-season buzz, KPop Demon Hunters previously took home two trophies—Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song—at the Critics Choice Awards on January 4.
The 37th PGA Awards ceremony will be held on February 28 in Los Angeles.
