"After a tiring day, we hope this becomes a small comfort."
SEVENTEEN's vocal unit DK and Seungkwan return with warmth for the winter night. Their first mini album 'Soyagok' drops today, delivering gentle melodies meant to soothe weary hearts.
'Soyagok' tells an emotional story that spans every moment between meeting and parting. Built around the theme of "ordinary love," the album speaks in a language of empathy and quiet resonance.
The title track 'Blue' captures love moving at different paces. The music video stars Lee Yoo-mi and Noh Sang-hyun, portraying a couple that slowly drifts apart, heightening the song's subdued emotions.
Across six tracks, DK and Seungkwan delicately trace feelings layered into everyday life. With 'Blue' at its center, the album leans into the essence of winter ballads—soft, intimate, and reflective.
DK shared, "This album lets us focus on vocals and show a new side of ourselves. We prepared it with great care, so I'm excited and nervous to see how CARATs receive it."
Seungkwan added, "Every album feels new. While working on 'Soyagok,' I spent a lot of time reflecting on my own and talking deeply with DK. We thought of CARATs throughout the process, and I hope they feel that."
On the title track, DK said recording 'Blue' took the most effort. "We spent a long time shaping the emotions and harmonies. It wasn't easy, but that made completing it even more fulfilling."
As for how to enjoy the song, Seungkwan suggested, "It's perfect for listening to on the way home from work or during a quiet walk. If our voices can bring even a little comfort to someone who had a hard day, that would mean a lot to us."
Both members expressed gratitude for the music video's cast, praising their expressive performances for blending seamlessly with the song's mood. "If you follow the story closely, the emotions will hit even deeper," Seungkwan said.
The album also features solo tracks written and composed by each member. DK's 'Rockstar (DK Solo)' was inspired by people who quietly stay by one's side. "I realized how much strength I draw from those close to me, and I wanted to thank them through this song."
Seungkwan's 'Dream Serenade (Seungkwan Solo)' reflects on moments that feel ordinary at the time but become precious in hindsight. "I hope listeners remember their own warm memories and feel at ease, even briefly."
Asked about each other's strengths as vocalists, DK described Seungkwan as "a singer who gives strength just by singing." Seungkwan, in turn, praised DK's wide emotional range, saying his voice can bring both smiles and quiet comfort.
When it comes to love, both pointed to fans first. DK said the stage is where SEVENTEEN and CARAT become one. Seungkwan shared a recent moment with all 13 members spending New Year's together, calling it a reminder that they will continue moving forward with care for one another.
To fans who waited for 'Soyagok,' DK said, "I hope this album becomes a reason you can answer 'yes' when asked if today was a good day." Seungkwan added, "We kept asking ourselves what love means while making this. I hope our sincerity reaches you, and that this album feels like a return for all the love you've given us."
