Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters claimed a major win at the Golden Globes, taking home the Original Song award.
At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, held on January 12 in Los Angeles, the OST track Golden was announced as the winner. The song's co-writer, co-composer, and vocalist Lee Jae took the stage to accept the trophy, visibly emotional as she thanked the audience for the honor.
Lee Jae shared her personal journey, revealing that she once trained with dreams of becoming a K-pop idol but was unable to achieve that goal. She explained that music became her way to overcome disappointment, adding that standing on the Golden Globes stage as a singer and composer made the moment even more meaningful.
She closed her speech with a heartfelt message: never give up on your dreams, and remember that it is never too late to shine just as you are.
This marks the first time a Korea-related animated project has won at the Golden Globes. KPop Demon Hunters was also nominated for Best Animated Feature and Box Office Achievement, further cementing its impact. Often regarded as a major precursor to the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe win boosts the film's Oscar prospects. Earlier, the project also earned two awards at the Critics Choice Awards.
