The Korean film If Only We has emerged as the weekend's dark horse, claiming its first No.1 spot at the box office and crossing the 1-million admissions milestone.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, the film drew 340,274 viewers over the January 9–11 weekend, bringing its cumulative audience to 1,046,424.
Powered by strong audience word of mouth, the romance outpaced Avatar: Fire and Ash, which attracted around 310,000 viewers, to take the top spot on the weekend chart.
If Only We is a Korean adaptation of the Chinese hit Us and Them. The film stars Koo Kyo-hwan and Moon Ga-young as former lovers who reunite 15 years after their breakup, revisiting shared memories and unresolved emotions.
The film is expected to enjoy a long theatrical run. It boasts an impressive 97% CGV Golden Egg Index score from verified audiences and is holding steady at No.2 in ticket reservations with a 13.7% share, despite competition from new releases.
Meanwhile, Zootopia 2 ranked third over the weekend with 51,883 admissions, followed by The Divine Orchestra, which drew 38,270 moviegoers.
