Netflix's animated film KPop Demon Hunters claimed a double victory at the Golden Globes, lifting two trophies on one of Hollywood's biggest award nights.
At the Golden Globe Awards, KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature Film. Director Maggie Kang thanked those who believed a film rooted in Korean culture could resonate globally, adding that the team wanted to portray female characters as they truly are—strong and confident, yet sometimes quirky and unapologetically obsessed with food.
The film also secured Best Original Song for "Golden," one of its original soundtrack tracks, beating out major contenders including Avatar: Fire and Ash. Singer-songwriter Lee Jae took the stage to accept the award, calling it an "incredible honor."
Reflecting on her past, Lee Jae shared that she once trained for nearly a decade as a K-pop idol trainee, only to face repeated rejection. "Music became my refuge," she said. "Standing here today as a singer and songwriter feels like a dream come true." She went on to thank the Golden Globes, her family, and her fiancé for their support.

Meanwhile, No Other Choice, directed by Park Chan-wook, was nominated in three categories—Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Actor for Lee Byung-hun, and Best Foreign Language Film—but did not take home an award.
The Golden Globes are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in the U.S. awards circuit, alongside the Academy Awards. Korean cinema has previously made history at the ceremony, with Bong Joon-ho winning Best Foreign Language Film for Parasite and Lee Isaac Chung earning the same honor for Minari. Actor Oh Yeong-su remains the only Korean performer to win an acting Golden Globe, for his role in Squid Game Season 1.
