Electronic Sheep Named Melon TrackZero's January Artist, Leading the Project's First Spotlight
by. ymchoi

Indie band Electronic Sheep has been selected as the January Artist for Melon's TrackZero, becoming the project's first featured act of the year.

On January 12, Melon announced that Electronic Sheep was chosen as TrackZero's January Artist, unveiling the band's curated playlist through Melon Magazine.

TrackZero is Melon's indie music support initiative, designed to rediscover hidden gems, spotlight overlooked artists, and give musicians renewed momentum through editorial playlists and features.

Electronic Sheep consists of Lee Jong-beom (vocals), Yoo Jung-mok (guitar), Jeon Sol-gi (bass), and Ryu Ji (drums). The band returned in December with its fourth full-length album Ensemble and Life, marking its first studio album in eight years.

Originally a solo project, Electronic Sheep transitioned into a full band format in 2015. Releasing a new album on its 10th anniversary, the group posed a reflective question: what becomes of a band after youth and romance fade?

Lee Jong-beom shared that band life has become part of his everyday routine, adding that music built on relatable, daily language resonates more strongly with audiences. He also noted a shift in perspective—from writing as "I" in the past to creating music centered on "we," reflecting the collective nature of the band.

The members are also active in other indie acts. Drummer Ryu Ji performs with Broccoli, You Too?, while guitarist Yoo Jung-mok is part of 9 and the Numbers. They described Electronic Sheep as a space where they can freely pursue what they want musically.

Ryu Ji recalled the King of Noise era, saying he was able to push his drumming to the absolute limit. The band also explained that the new album emphasizes the joy of playing together, with arrangements adjusted to better suit live performance settings.

Each member picked personal favorite tracks from the album: Jeon Sol-gi chose "Drive," Ryu Ji selected "T-Shirt," and Yoo Jung-mok named both "Ensemble" and "T-Shirt."

Alongside the feature, Melon released a recommended playlist including tracks such as "Black-and-White Photo," "Occult," "A Wave Called Destruction / Campfire," and "Dungeon 2," offering listeners a deeper look into Electronic Sheep's musical world.
