Actor Oh Jung-se is set to appear in a new JTBC drama, showcasing his signature hyper-realistic performance.
On January 20, his agency Prain TPC confirmed that Oh Jung-se will star in JTBC's upcoming series Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness (working title), written by Park Hae-young and directed by Cha Young-hoon.
The drama marks Park Hae-young's latest project following My Liberation Notes. It centers on a man who, surrounded by seemingly successful friends, struggles with envy and seeks inner peace while grappling with his own sense of worthlessness.
Oh Jung-se takes on the role of Park Kyung-se, a film director affiliated with production company Gobak Film. A member of an industry circle known as the "Eight," Kyung-se harbors deep insecurities after his most recent film ends in box-office failure.
He is entangled in a volatile love-hate relationship with Koo Kyo-hwan, engaging in petty yet intense clashes throughout the story. Oh Jung-se is expected to bring both humor and depth to Kyung-se's inferiority complex and quick-tempered personality.
Another point of interest is the fresh pairing with Kang Mal-geum, who plays Go Hye-jin, Kyung-se's wife and the CEO of Gobak Film. The two are set to deliver an unconventional on-screen chemistry.
Known for constant transformation across projects, Oh Jung-se continues to expand his range with contrasting roles. His agency commented, "Please look forward to the new side Oh Jung-se will reveal through the character Park Kyung-se."
Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness is scheduled to air on JTBC in the first half of this year.
