The announcement of BTS's world tour is already rippling through the global tourism economy.
Following the group's tour plan reveal on January 14, global travel demand surged. According to data from Hotels.com, international searches for trips to Seoul jumped 155% within 48 hours compared to the previous week.
Interest in Busan, set to host a concert in June 2026, skyrocketed by 2,375%. Searches from major Asian markets including Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan increased by thousands of percent. Domestic travel demand also spiked, with searches rising 190% for Seoul and 3,855% for Busan.
The response overseas has been equally intense. Brazil's news radio BandNews FM highlighted BTS's planned São Paulo concert in October 2026 as a major issue. Citing data from local transportation platform ClickBus, the outlet reported that searches for bus tickets to São Paulo surged more than 600-fold after the tour announcement.
In the UK, The Guardian focused on the tour's economic ripple effect. Economists described it as a global event capable of significantly impacting city economies across North America, driving demand in tourism, accommodation, and consumer spending.
The Guardian also referenced projections from financial services firm Bread Financial. Typically, one concert ticket generates more than three times its value in local economic activity. For BTS, however, the multiplier is expected to be far higher.
Tourism analysis firm Tourism Economics emphasized that the usual benchmark does not apply. "The average multiplier does not fit BTS. They will far exceed it," the firm noted, adding that estimating the full economic impact of this tour is itself a challenge.
BTS's influence extends beyond economics. In the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 2025 National Image Survey, the group ranked first among Koreans who most positively impact the country's global image. Jungkook placed sixth overall, the highest-ranked solo artist.
Meanwhile, BTS will release their fifth full-length album Arirang on March 20. The album features 14 tracks exploring universal emotions including identity, longing, and profound love.
