Fantagio has issued an official statement addressing tax evasion allegations involving the company and its artist Cha Eun-woo, saying it will fulfill its responsibilities in accordance with legal and administrative outcomes.

On January 27, Fantagio released a statement apologizing for causing concern amid the ongoing controversy related to the company and Cha Eun-woo. The agency said it feels a heavy sense of responsibility and is currently cooperating with tax authorities to verify the facts as procedures continue.

Fantagio explained that both the agency and the artist are faithfully participating in the investigation, adding that once legal and administrative judgments are finalized, all necessary measures will be taken responsibly based on those results.

According to reports, the National Tax Service imposed an additional tax bill of approximately 20 billion KRW on Cha Eun-woo last year. Authorities reportedly suspected intentional tax evasion, alleging that a family-owned company was established to pay corporate tax rates instead of higher personal income tax rates.

Fantagio was also reportedly assessed an additional tax of about 8.2 billion KRW, based on allegations that it processed false tax invoices related to the family company. Although Fantagio filed a pre-assessment review request, it was reportedly rejected.

The agency urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims, excessive speculation, or exaggerated interpretations surrounding the case.

Fantagio concluded by pledging to prevent recurrence, stating that it will use this situation as an opportunity to review its artist management systems and reinforce necessary internal controls to ensure similar controversies do not arise in the future.
