Park Chan Wook's film No Choice has failed to secure a nomination at the British Academy Film Awards.
On January 28 (KST), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the nominees for the 79th BAFTA Film Awards. No Choice did not make the final five in the Film Not in the English Language category.
The shortlisted titles included It Was Just an Accident (Iran), The Secret Agent (Brazil), Sentimental Value (Norway), Sirat (Spain–France), and Hind's Voice (Tunisia–France).
No Choice was also excluded from major categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and acting awards. Lead actor Lee Byung Hun did not receive a Best Actor nomination either.
The film had previously earned three nominations at the Golden Globe Awards but left without a win. It also failed to advance to the final shortlist for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards.
Netflix's animated feature KPop Demon Hunters was likewise ruled ineligible for BAFTA consideration, reportedly due to not meeting the requirement of a commercial theatrical release in the UK.
Meanwhile, Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, earned nominations in five categories including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film drew attention as the English-language remake of the Korean cult classic Save the Green Planet!.
The 79th BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will take place on February 23 at the Southbank Centre in London.
