Actor Bae Doona has been appointed as a jury member of the Berlin International Film Festival.
The Berlinale office announced on January 28 (KST) the full jury lineup for the 76th edition. Bae Doona is among the jurors tasked with selecting the festival's top honors.
She will serve alongside Nepalese director Min Bahadur Bham and U.S. director Reinaldo Marcus Green, evaluating 22 films competing in the main competition.
The festival described Bae Doona as "one of South Korea's leading actresses," noting her accolades including the Blue Dragon Film Awards' Best New Actress. It added that she has built global recognition through Bong Joon Ho's The Host and the Netflix series Sense8, and will next appear in the upcoming film Alpha Gang.
This marks the third time a Korean film figure has been invited to the Berlinale jury. Actress Lee Young-ae served in 2006, followed by director Bong Joon Ho in 2015.
The jury determines winners across the competition section, including the Golden Bear as well as Silver Bear awards for special achievement and directing.
In this year's selections, Hong Sang-soo's The Day She Returned is shortlisted in the Panorama section, while director Jung Ji-young's My Name Is will screen in the Forum section.
Director Yoo Jae-in's On the Way to Erase has been invited to Generation 14plus, and director Oh Ji-in's Tssppidi! is competing in the Generation Short Film category.
