STAYC's Sieun is set to take on her first musical role since debut.
On February 2, her agency High Up Entertainment announced that Sieun has been cast as Songhwa in the musical Seopyeonje. Based on the short story by Lee Cheong-jun, Seopyeonje explores the meaning and value of sound through the journey of a family of traditional singers.
Songhwa, portrayed by Sieun, is a blind sori singer—an artist who confronts her fate and the path she has chosen. Through years of wandering and separation, she grows into a true artist, reaching profound artistic heights through sound despite relentless hardship.
Sieun has built a wide fanbase through her activities with STAYC and brings additional strength as a former child actress. Her accumulated acting experience is expected to translate Songhwa's emotional arc with a contemporary sensibility.
Seopyeonje will run from April 30 to July 19 at Gwanglim Art Center BBCH Hall.
