Kim Hye-soo is set to return in a new series produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk.
On February 5, Coupang Play unveiled the cast lineup for its upcoming series It's Not About the Affair Right Now, written by Jung Eun-kyung and Park Soo-rin and directed by Lee Chang-hee.
The series follows an influencer couple and their neighbor—a doctor couple in the middle of a divorce lawsuit—whose lives become entangled through an unmanageable secret.
A lineup of proven performers leads the project. Kim Hye-soo stars as Kyung-hee, an interior design company CEO and influencer driven by an insatiable desire for greater success. Cho Yeo-jeong plays Soo-jung, Kyung-hee's next-door neighbor and a dermatology clinic director who endures everything to protect the daughter who stayed by her side.
Kim Ji-hoon appears as Jae-hong, Kyung-hee's husband living in the shadow of his successful wife, while Kim Jae-chul joins as Bo-sung, Soo-jung's ex-husband.
The cast recently held a script reading. Kim Hye-soo said, "Everything felt unique—the way the story unfolds and the character ensemble were especially compelling." Cho Yeo-jeong added, "A single incident sparks a precarious chain of events that plays out like a thrilling farce. Please look forward to it."
Directing duties are handled by Lee Chang-hee, known for A Killer's Shopping List, Strangers from Hell, and the film The Vanished. Hwang Dong-hyuk joins as showrunner and producer alongside producer Kim Ji-yeon, strengthening the series' overall craftsmanship.
It's Not About the Affair Right Now is slated for release later this year.
