Remarks made on a Mexican television program have triggered backlash after appearing to demean BTS and their fandom, ARMY.
On February 5 (KST), Mexico's Multimedios Channel 6 shared a clip from its entertainment show Chismorreo on social media. The segment addressed controversy surrounding the fairness of ticket sales for BTS's Mexico City concerts.
Panelist Luisa Fernanda criticized fandom spending habits, saying that even Shakira's concerts sell out and adding that fans feel "exploited by expensive ticket prices," before questioning their judgment. Another panelist, Fabian Lavalle, reacted to footage of BTS fans by saying, "It's not a time to cry over some unknown singer's concert. If it were my daughter, I'd make her do her homework."

Although the host attempted to de-escalate—remarking that seeing BTS is a dream for many young people—Fernanda continued, claiming that "half of the fans probably didn't even finish elementary school," intensifying criticism.
BTS is scheduled to perform their world tour ARIRANG in Mexico City on May 7 and May 9–10 at the GNP Seguros Stadium, which holds approximately 65,000 attendees.
Previously, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated at a press conference that she had sent a letter to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung requesting additional BTS concert dates in Mexico. She noted BTS's immense popularity among Mexican youth, estimating that nearly one million people wanted tickets while only about 150,000 were available.
She added that once a response is received, it will be made public, and expressed hope that if additional shows are not possible, large outdoor screens could be installed so more citizens can enjoy the performances.
