Singer-songwriter Haihm (Kim Haihm) has been selected as the February Artist of the Month for Melon's Track Zero.
Haihm has emerged as one of Korea's most anticipated electronic music artists. Moving away from her background in classical piano, she has focused on electronic sounds and experimental structures to shape a distinctive musical identity.
Over the past 18 years, she has continuously explored a wide spectrum of sounds. From her debut album Haihm to Point 9 and her latest release FLOW FORM, her work has evolved through constant variation and refinement.
FLOW FORM marks another turning point in Haihm's career. The album centers on sound textures, with progressions inspired by movement such as air currents and ocean flows.
The title track Free Float most clearly represents the album's aesthetic, stripping melodic motion to a minimum and placing texture at the forefront.
Haihm explained that rather than expressing emotions directly through lyrics and vocals, she wanted to explore ways of conveying feeling through sound and atmosphere. She added that as unnecessary elements are gradually removed, what truly needs to remain reveals a stronger presence.
Melon's Track Zero is a project dedicated to uncovering hidden gems in music, selecting and spotlighting a featured artist each month to support the indie music scene.
