Actors Noh Sang-hyun and Gong Seung-yeon are set to inject a new layer of tension into MBC's upcoming Friday–Saturday drama 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife.
On February 9, the production team released stills featuring the two actors, each exuding a composed, authoritative presence. Noh Sang-hyun takes on the role of Min Jung-woo, the eldest son of a prestigious political family whose grandfather and father both served as prime minister—before he himself ascends to the post.
Min Jung-woo appears flawless on the surface, boasting good looks, sharp intellect, and a gentle demeanor that has made him the nation's most desirable marriage prospect. Rarely revealing his true feelings, he opens up only to Grand Prince Ian, played by Byeon Woo-seok, a longtime friend bound by trust since their school days. However, when Ian announces a contract marriage with his junior, Seong Hee-joo (played by IU), Min Jung-woo's composure begins to crack—positioning him as a potential variable in their arrangement.

Gong Seung-yeon portrays Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang, a woman who upholds the very foundation of Korea's royal family. Born into a lineage that produced four queens, she was raised to suppress emotion and embody perfection, willingly accepting her destiny as a figure of history. Her life shifts dramatically when her young son ascends the throne, and the overwhelming public support for Grand Prince Ian intensifies her growing unease. The question remains whether Yoon Yi-rang can protect both her son's crown and her own fate amid mounting instability.
Set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy, "21st Century Grand Prince's Wife" tells a romance about breaking social barriers—between a chaebol woman who remains a commoner by status and a king's son who, despite his birthright, is denied everything. The drama is scheduled to premiere this April.
