Coupang Play has unveiled the cast for its upcoming original series The Absolute Value of Romance, starring Kim Hyang-gi and Cha Hak-yeon.
Set in a high school, the series follows a female student who secretly writes romance novels inspired by handsome teachers, only to find herself swept into a whirlwind of unexpected school-life events.
Kim Hyang-gi plays Yeo Ui-ju, an ordinary high school student by day who transforms into a romance novelist at night. She leads the story with her signature youthful charm.
Cha Hak-yeon takes on the role of Woo-soo, a high school math teacher with an IQ of 156 and a Mensa membership. A certified math genius, he is set to deliver playful and comedic chemistry with Kim Hyang-gi.
The supporting cast includes Kim Jae-hyun as Japanese language teacher Noda-ju, Son Jung-hyuk as PE teacher Jung Gi-jeon, and Kim Dong-gyu as Korean language teacher Yoon Dong-ju.
The series marks the feature-length debut of writer Lee Min-joo and is co-directed by Lee Tae-gon and Kim Jun-hyung, known for their work on Age of Youth and Bora! Deborah.
The Absolute Value of Romance is scheduled to premiere on Coupang Play this April.
