FIFTY FIFTY has collaborated with legendary British rock band Pink Floyd for a special tribute project.
The group participated in the 50th anniversary tribute commemorating the release of Pink Floyd's iconic track "Wish You Were Here." Their reinterpretation has also been unveiled on YouTube, showcasing FIFTY FIFTY's unique musical color.
A Sincere Reinterpretation of a Rock Classic
Rather than focusing on flashy vocal techniques, the members emphasized delivering the emotional depth of the original song. Their stable vocals and restrained arrangement naturally conveyed the resonance and longing embedded in the classic track.
The highlight comes in the latter half of the song, where the members exchange lines in a conversational format. This newly arranged section gently unpacks the theme of "longing," offering a sense of comfort while maintaining the spirit of the original.
First Korean Artist in the Tribute Project
FIFTY FIFTY expressed their excitement about the collaboration. "We listened to a lot of rock music while participating in band activities during our school days," they shared. "It still feels unreal to cover the music of such a legendary band after debut."
As the first Korean artist to join the tribute project, the group described the experience as "feeling one step closer to a dream." They added that the project helped them grow artistically.
The members also conveyed deep respect for Pink Floyd, praising the band's ability to create music that transcends generations and continues to move listeners over time.
Finally, FIFTY FIFTY expressed their aspiration to become a team whose music can give strength to others and remain memorable for years to come. CEO Jeon Hong-jun also shared that Pink Floyd's music had long inspired him in planning Korean pop projects, calling the connection a true honor and source of gratitude.
