The historical film The Man Who Lives with the King has crossed its break-even point, continuing its strong box office run during the Lunar New Year holiday season.
According to the Korean Film Council's Integrated Computer Network for Box Office, the film surpassed 3.09 million cumulative moviegoers as of 9 a.m. on February 17. It exceeded its break-even threshold of 2.6 million admissions in just 13 days since release.
Dominating the Lunar New Year Box Office
The film led theaters throughout the holiday stretch. On February 14, the first day of the extended weekend, it drew 350,000 viewers. Admissions climbed to 460,000 on February 15 and 530,000 on February 16, showing steady upward momentum.
The upward trend is expected to continue. As of the same day, the reservation rate stands at 53.6 percent, signaling sustained audience demand. CGV's Golden Egg Index, which reflects real audience ratings, remains high at 97 percent, further supporting projections of a long-term box office run.
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film follows the story of a village chief who voluntarily chooses exile for the revival of his community and a young dethroned king sent into banishment. The cast includes Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon.
