The Korean box office is heating up over the Lunar New Year holiday, led by Humint and The King Who Lives.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, Humint, directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, surpassed 1 million admissions as of 1:07 PM on February 17. The milestone was achieved just six days after its release.

Set in Vladivostok—where both secrets and truths sink beneath an icy sea—the film follows characters with conflicting agendas as they collide in a tense showdown. Audiences have responded to its large-scale action sequences and high-speed car chases designed for the big screen, as well as its tightly woven narrative driven by layered character choices.

Strong word of mouth has fueled its rise, with CGV's Golden Egg Index climbing and verified audience ratings surging. The Humint team plans to continue special promotional events through its second and third weekends in theaters.

The King Who Lives Dominates Holiday Theaters

The King Who Lives, directed by Jang Hang-jun, drew 661,478 moviegoers on February 17 alone, bringing its cumulative total to 3,521,303 admissions. The film has officially surpassed its break-even point while maintaining the No. 1 position at the box office.

The story centers on the deposed King Danjong, portrayed by Park Ji-hoon, and depicts the final chapter of his life in exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province. The film has earned praise for its emotional depth, balanced with moments of humor, and for the cast's compelling performances.

As of February 18, The King Who Lives ranks first in real-time reservation rate at 52.5%, with 268,504 tickets booked. Humint follows in second place with an 18.5% reservation rate and 94,444 advance tickets sold.
