j-hope of BTS marked his birthday with another heartfelt act of generosity.
On February 18, child welfare organization Green Umbrella announced that j-hope donated 100 million KRW to support the dreams of juniors at his alma mater.
Since 2019 through 2023, j-hope has provided scholarships to students in financial need at Gwangju International High School—his alma mater—as well as Jeonnam Girls' Commercial High School in the local region. The funds have helped students pursue their academic and career aspirations.
Green Umbrella stated that the new donation will be used to select and support students from both schools who require financial assistance.
A Member of the Green Noble Trinity Club
With this latest contribution, j-hope has become the 14th member of Green Umbrella's high-value donor group, the Green Noble Trinity Club, surpassing a cumulative donation total of 1 billion KRW.
Since 2018, he has consistently supported vulnerable communities through Green Umbrella, including covering medical expenses for pediatric patients and assisting children from families affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Hwang Young-ki, Chairman of Green Umbrella, expressed gratitude, saying, "We sincerely thank j-hope for sharing love every year on his birthday. We will continue to ensure that the hearts of our donors lead to a brighter future for children."
