BLACKPINK's Jisoo is set to return with a fresh romantic concept, embarking on virtual-world dates alongside top stars.
She stars in the upcoming Monthly Boyfriend, premiering next month on Netflix. The series centers on a subscription-based virtual dating service, blending fantasy and romance.
Recently unveiled posters and trailers capture Mirae (played by Jisoo) entering a digital universe where she meets a variety of potential "boyfriends." The teaser follows her escaping a weary routine and stepping into the Monthly Boyfriend platform. "I put in everything you like," a voice says, as a dreamlike world unfolds.
Virtual Dates and Real-Life Chemistry
The story also teases a possible real-world romance. As Mirae navigates the chaos sparked by the virtual service, Kyung-nam (played by Seo In-guk) appears, hinting at subtle chemistry that heightens anticipation.
The cameo lineup is equally buzzworthy. Seo Kang-joon, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Young-dae, Lee Sang-yi, and Jay Park will appear as virtual-world love interests, forming a powerhouse special-appearance roster.
Director Kim Jung-sik described the series' key appeal as its multi-universe romance structure. "The protagonist experiences romance with different characters across distinct settings and worldviews," he explained, adding that each episode assigns unique professions and backstories to highlight Jisoo's diverse charms.
Monthly Boyfriend will premiere on Netflix on March 6.
