I.O.I is officially reuniting to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary.
On February 23, Swing Entertainment confirmed that I.O.I will make a comeback in May and is currently preparing a new album. The group also plans to kick off a Seoul concert followed by an Asia tour.
9-Member Lineup for Anniversary Project
This comeback will feature nine members: Lim Nayoung, Chungha, Kim Sejeong, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Sohye, Yoo Yeonjung, Choi Yoojung, Kim Doyeon, and Jeon Somi. Kang Mina and Zhou Jieqiong will not participate due to scheduling conflicts.
The reunion marks the group's first official project in nine years. Over time, the members have consistently expressed their desire to reunite, and after extensive discussions, the anniversary comeback has finally materialized.
From Produce 101 to "Nation's Girl Group"
I.O.I was formed in 2016 through Mnet's survival program Produce 101, created by national vote. The group debuted in May of that year and released hit songs including "Dream Girls," "Whatta Man," and "Very Very Very."
Their rapid success earned them Rookie of the Year awards at major ceremonies such as the Golden Disc Awards and the Seoul Music Awards. Beyond music, they gained popularity through variety appearances, solidifying their status as a "Nation's Girl Group." Official activities concluded with a concert in January 2017.
Since disbandment, the members have built individual careers across music, acting, and entertainment. As I.O.I prepares to reunite after a decade, anticipation is rising over what kind of music and stage they will present.
Further details regarding the 10th anniversary comeback schedule and album information will be announced sequentially.
