The Man Who Lives with the King continues its powerful box office run, surpassing 6 million moviegoers.
According to the Korean Film Council's Integrated Computer Network for Theater Tickets, the film exceeded 6 million cumulative admissions on February 23. This milestone was reached faster than The King and the Clown (29 days) and The Throne (26 days).
The film is also matching the pace of Masquerade, which drew 12 million viewers during its theatrical run. For 11 consecutive days, The Man Who Lives with the King has firmly held the No. 1 spot at the overall box office, leading a renewed wave of interest in historical dramas.
Strong Momentum Continues
The film centers on King Danjong, the sixth king of the Joseon Dynasty, portraying the story of the young exiled monarch, the village chief who protects him, and the people of Gwangcheol Valley.
As of 9 a.m. on February 24, the movie recorded a real-time reservation rate of 54.2 percent, maintaining its top position. In comparison, HUMINT, directed by Ryoo Seung Wan, followed in second place with 8.7 percent.
With sustained audience demand and strong advance ticket sales, the film's box office momentum shows no signs of slowing.
