Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon are returning to variety television together, taking on a heartfelt project to support young adults with developmental disabilities as they navigate romance.
The couple will appear on SBS-TV's upcoming program "My Heart Is Mongle Mongle – Mongle Counseling Center," set to premiere next month. It marks their first joint variety show appearance in 13 years of marriage.
Love Counselors for First Romance
On the show, Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon serve as head counselors, guiding young adults with developmental disabilities who dream of love through their first romantic experiences.
Lee Hyori explained her reason for joining the project, saying she admired producer Go Hye-rin's previous works and believed the program was created with sincerity. She also shared a personal motivation, noting that she wanted to better understand young adults with developmental disabilities, as there were many aspects she did not yet fully know.
Lee Sang-soon added that he was drawn to the program's purpose, describing it as a show that addresses a potentially sensitive topic without being overly heavy or overly light.
An Eight-Week Journey of Growth
The couple spent eight weeks building meaningful relationships with three young participants. Both expressed deep affection for the experience.
Lee Hyori recalled one participant's date in particular, saying she was moved by the way he genuinely embraced and liked the person in front of him. Lee Sang-soon also shared that the participant's clear and pure expression left a lasting impression, especially during a memorable date at Hangang Park.
They concluded by expressing hope that viewers would watch the young adults just as they are, adding that the program's pure energy will offer healing.
"My Heart Is Mongle Mongle – Mongle Counseling Center" premieres on March 8.
