Bong Joon Ho has been selected as an exemplary taxpayer in recognition of his contributions to both the film industry and national development.
On March 3, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the National Tax Service held the 60th Taxpayer's Day ceremony at COEX Auditorium in Seoul, presenting awards to distinguished taxpayers.
Bong Joon Ho received a Prime Minister's commendation for his record of diligent tax compliance. The award was granted in his capacity as CEO of his production company Offscreen, which he established in 2003.
The Ministry stated that he has contributed to national development by enhancing the global standing of Korean culture and arts, while also supporting the country's fiscal growth through faithful tax payments.
Exemplary taxpayers are granted various benefits, including a three-year deferral of tax audits, as well as discounts on railway fares, free access to public parking facilities, and reductions on certain medical expenses.
Meanwhile, Bong Joon Ho is currently preparing his ninth feature film, The Valley.
