BTS have heightened anticipation for their return by unveiling the tracklist for their upcoming fifth studio album ARIRANG.
On March 4, BTS revealed the tracklist through their official social media channels. The graphic, designed in the form of striking red tape, immediately caught fans' attention and hinted at the album's powerful concept.
The album features a total of 14 tracks. The title song is "SWIM," accompanied by "Body to Body," "Hooligan," and "FYA." Additional tracks include "Aliens," "2.0," "No. 29," "Merry Go Round," "NORMAL," and "Like Animals."
The record also includes "they don't know 'bout us," "One More Night," "Please," and "Into the Sun," completing the 14-track lineup.
A Return to Identity
ARIRANG reflects BTS's identity while embracing the emotions accumulated throughout their journey. As the group prepares for their first comeback in three years and nine months, the album focuses on reconnecting with their roots.
The title track "SWIM" is an alternative pop song about continuing to swim forward through the waves of life. RM participated in writing the lyrics, adding sincerity and depth to the message.
Stories from the Journey
Several songs capture different aspects of the group's path and mindset.
"Body to Body" is a high-energy track that calls for fans in the audience to enjoy the moment together. "Hooligan" reflects the time the group spent traveling the world and forging their own path.
"FYA" captures the heat and excitement surrounding the comeback, while "Aliens" conveys their ambitions toward the world. "2.0" portrays the members entering a new phase of their careers.
Tracks like "No. 29" and "Merry Go Round" explore enduring the cycles of life. "NORMAL" expresses emotions both on and off the stage, and "Like Animals" channels passionate determination.
Meanwhile, "they don't know 'bout us" conveys confidence in the message that "we're simply being ourselves." "One More Night" expresses the desire to stay longer in a dazzling moment.
"Please" shares a sincere wish to stay together no matter the circumstances. "Into the Sun" closes the narrative with a confession about running toward someone with unwavering determination.
Global Collaboration
BTS previously held songwriting sessions in Los Angeles, bringing together a lineup of world-class producers. Diplo, Ryan Tedder, and El Guincho contributed to the album's production.
BTS will release ARIRANG on March 20 at 1 PM. The following day, March 21, they will hold a comeback live performance in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul.
