SEVENTEEN's unit S.Coups and Mingyu have reclaimed the top spot on Japan's Oricon chart with their first mini album HYPE VIBES.
According to the latest Oricon tally dated March 2, S.Coups and Mingyu ranked No.1 on the Daily Album Ranking with HYPE VIBES. The achievement marks a remarkable reverse chart run.
The album returned to the top five months after its initial release. The agency explained that the surge was driven by excitement surrounding the duo's concert event "Double Up – Live Party."
Five-Month Reverse Chart Run
HYPE VIBES was originally released on September 29 last year. Since then, it has maintained steady support from listeners both in Korea and internationally. The album is now approaching the milestone of 1 million cumulative sales.
The duo's popularity in Japan has also been notable. Within just one day of release, shipments surpassed 100,000 copies. The album subsequently received a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
Strong Performance Across Japanese Charts
The album has performed strongly across major Japanese charts. HYPE VIBES previously topped Oricon's Weekly Album Ranking and Weekly Combined Album Ranking, as well as Billboard Japan's Top Album Sales chart.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN's latest song is also drawing attention. The group released "Tiny Light" on February 27, which immediately debuted at No.1 on Japan's AWA Music The Hot 100 chart.
"Tiny Light" will also be featured as the ending theme for BEASTARS Final Season Part 2, the Netflix anime series.
