Han Ji-eun is set to return to the theater stage for the first time in about a year.

On March 4, her agency Gram Entertainment announced that Han Ji-eun has been cast as Heather in the play The Wasp. The agency added that audiences can expect to see a new side of the actress through the production.

The Wasp tells the story of two high school classmates who reunite after 20 years. The play unfolds through a tense conversation between the two women, exposing the devastating consequences of social class disparities.

A Character Hidden Behind Elegance

Han Ji-eun will meet audiences as Heather, a character who appears to live an elegant and perfect life on the surface. Beneath that image, however, lies a woman deeply scarred by trauma.

Since the play is driven primarily by two actors, Han Ji-eun has been preparing intensively to carry the performance. She has been focusing on rehearsals to bring out the chilling tension that runs throughout the story.

Exploring Trauma Through Performance

Han Ji-eun shared that she enjoys exploring the deeper meanings embedded in a script. She explained that The Wasp fascinated her because it offers many different perspectives for reflection.

Describing Heather, she said the character is someone who has endured life with unwavering determination while trying to overcome past trauma. She added that she prepared for the role with deep empathy and affection.

Han Ji-eun also expressed hope that audiences will reflect on their own lives while watching the play and freely interpret its themes.

A Year After Her Stage Debut

Last year, Han Ji-eun made her first stage appearance since her debut, performing in the plays Anna X and White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Her stable and convincing acting earned positive reviews from theater audiences.

Her agency commented that viewers should look forward to the new charm she will reveal through The Wasp.

The play will run from March 10 through April 26.
