Park Ji-hoon has completed filming for his upcoming military comedy drama, trading royal robes for a soldier's uniform.
The production team of the TVING original series The Legendary Cook Soldier announced that filming officially wrapped on March 3. The project concluded an approximately eight-month shoot that began in July last year. The series is scheduled for release on May 11.
On the same day, Park Ji-hoon shared a message on social media saying, "Great work, Kang Sung-jae." He also posted a photo of himself in military fatigues standing in front of a barracks to commemorate the final day of filming.
A Military Comedy About a Cook Soldier
The Legendary Cook Soldier tells the story of a cook soldier who holds a kitchen knife instead of a rifle and wears an apron instead of ammunition belts. Guided by mysterious quest screens, he gradually rises to become a legend.
The series is based on a popular web novel and webtoon of the same name.
Park Ji-hoon plays Kang Sung-jae, a young man who strives to overcome a difficult family background. After becoming a military cook, he begins leveling up through a mysterious quest system that appears before him, following an unfamiliar voice.
A Role Fit for a Military Enthusiast
In the drama, Park Ji-hoon portrays a newly transferred private with strict discipline. Known for being a military enthusiast in real life, he is expected to bring convincing detail and authenticity to the character.
Park Ji-hoon has been active across both film and television. In the movie The King Who Lives (working title translation of The Man Who Lives with the King), directed by Jang Hang-jun, he played the young deposed king Lee Hong-wi, who is exiled to Yeongwol.
His emotional performance moved audiences nationwide. The film is expected to surpass 10 million viewers soon, having already exceeded 9.4 million admissions as of March 3.
If the milestone is reached, Park Ji-hoon will become a "10-million actor" with his first commercial film.
