Actor Park Ji-hoon is lending support to a regional festival in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province.
The Yeongwol Culture & Tourism Foundation uploaded a promotional video for the 59th Danjong Cultural Festival on the official Yeongwol Festival social media on March 4. Park Ji-hoon appeared in the video and encouraged viewers to take part in the event.
His participation is linked to his recent role in the film The Man Living with the King. In the movie, Park Ji-hoon portrays Danjong of Joseon, the sixth king of the Joseon Dynasty.
Reflecting on the role, he shared that he wanted to portray the loneliness, pain, and inner emotions Danjong might have experienced—not just as a king, but as a person.
Park Ji-hoon also expressed deep affection for the film. He described the project as a valuable experience that allowed him to observe and feel history more closely.
A Special Connection to Yeongwol
Yeongwol is both a filming location for the movie and the place where King Danjong lived in exile. Park Ji-hoon recalled filming there fondly, saying the region's clear nature and warm local residents made the experience especially meaningful.
He added that the Danjong Cultural Festival will take place in Yeongwol from April 24 to 26 and expressed hope that many people will attend.
Park Ji-hoon concluded by asking for warm interest in both Yeongwol and the story of King Danjong, wishing visitors a meaningful and happy time at the festival.
The festival will be held across Yeongwol next month. Major programs include a reenactment of King Danjong's royal funeral procession, the Danjong memorial ritual, and a selection event for Queen Jeongsun.
