Actor Jun Ji-hyun and Stray Kids' Felix have been appointed honorary ambassadors to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France.
The Embassy of France in Korea held a press conference on March 5 at the Kim Chung-up Hall inside the embassy in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, where Jun Ji-hyun and Felix were officially introduced as honorary ambassadors.
The two will participate in major cultural events throughout the year to promote the significance of the Korea–France diplomatic milestone. The embassy stated, "Both figures represent the cultural dynamism of Korea today and demonstrate the wide reach of our cultural exchange."
Regarding Felix, the embassy highlighted his global impact in the music industry, noting his popularity through large-scale concerts around the world, including in France. They added that he has helped expand cultural connections between younger generations in Korea and France.
Felix shared, "Many cultural and artistic events will take place in Korea throughout this year. I hope many people will show interest and take part."
Official diplomatic relations between Korea and France began in 1886 with the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation between Korea and France. To mark the anniversary, the French Embassy in Korea will host a commemorative event on June 4 at Deoksugung Palace, the date the treaty was originally signed. World-renowned soprano Sumi Jo will participate in the event.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids will meet fans at their sixth fan meeting, STAY in Our Little House, scheduled for March 28–29 and April 4–5 at Inspire Arena in Incheon.
