by. ymchoi

BLACKPINK has set a new milestone with its latest album, breaking the first-week sales record for a K-pop girl group.

On March 6, BLACKPINK officially surpassed the previous record with the third mini album DEADLINE. According to Hanteo Chart, the album sold a total of 1,774,577 copies from February 27 to March 5.

It marks the highest first-week sales ever achieved by a K-pop girl group. The figure surpasses the previous record held by aespa's MY WORLD (1.69 million) by about 70,000 copies. It is also roughly 230,000 copies higher than BLACKPINK's previous release BORN PINK (2022).

The album's success was anticipated from the start. On its release day alone, DEADLINE recorded 1,461,785 copies sold, setting another record for the highest single-day sales by a K-pop girl group.

DEADLINE contains five tracks in total: the title track "GO," the pre-release song "JUMP," along with "Me and My," "Champion," and "Fxxxboy."

The album is also performing strongly on global charts. DEADLINE topped the iTunes album chart in 38 regions worldwide, while the music video for "GO" immediately ranked No. 1 on YouTube's worldwide trending chart upon release.

Rolling Stone praised the comeback, stating, "BLACKPINK has returned at the peak of its power. Each member's individuality shines while showcasing the group's signature presence at its best."
