Byun Woo-seok and IU are set to greet viewers this spring with a warm romantic story.
MBC confirmed on March 6 that its new Friday–Saturday drama The Grand Prince's Bride in the 21st Century, written by Yoo Ji-won and directed by Park Jun-hwa and Bae Hee-young, will premiere on April 10.
The release was postponed by one week due to the broadcast schedule for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The series will follow the currently airing drama In Your Brilliant Season.
The Grand Prince's Bride in the 21st Century is set in a modern constitutional monarchy. The story follows the romance between commoner-born chaebol Seong Hee-joo (IU) and Grand Prince Ian (Byun Woo-seok), the king's son, as they challenge social status boundaries.
IU plays Seong Hee-joo, a seemingly perfect woman blessed with both beauty and intelligence. The only thing she lacks is noble status, which leads her to choose a contract marriage with Grand Prince Ian in order to overcome social barriers.
Byun Woo-seok takes on the role of Grand Prince Ian, who governs the nation on behalf of his young nephew who has ascended the throne. Known for his cold and disciplined personality, he gradually begins to change after meeting Seong Hee-joo.
